Ascension Therapy is a privately owned practice, located at the serene Lakeside Business Suites at Desert Shores, Las Vegas, Nevada. Providing you with supportive individual and family therapy is our most sincere intent, either in-person, or from the comfort of your home via Telehealth.

Anxiety

Trauma and anxiety disorders are often associated, as feelings of fear and worry associated with the traumatic event or events can be overwhelming; and when these cognitive aspects are coupled with the autonomic arousal in anxiety (such as sweating, a racing heart, tense muscles, etc.) this can induce panic.

Individual Therapy

Fertility / Infertility / Reproductive Journeys

Fertility is the natural capability to conceive or induce conception. Infertility is a condition of the reproductive system that prevents the conception of children. Reproductive adults, an actual or potential parent. Talking to a mental health specialist during your journey has been known to help sustain mental clarity.

Active Military/Veterans

Many active military and veterans experience a group of mental health conditions that tend to disproportionately affect military personnel. These conditions may include: posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and substance abuse, among other issues. Due to the traumatic environment in which active military combatants serve, veterans are at a significantly higher risk for developing these health concerns. Family Therapy

Depression

Major depressive disorder (MDD), also known as clinical depression, is a mental health disorder characterized by at least two weeks of pervasive low mood, loss of interest in normally enjoyable activities, loss of pleasure, and low-self-esteem.

Vanessa Humphrey, MS, LCPC, NCC, ACS

Ms. Humphrey holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S., 2008) in psychology from Fisk University, Nashville, Tennessee, completed undergraduate course work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2005/2006), and gained experience abroad while attending Estudio de Sampiere in Salamanca, Spain (2007).

Ms. Humphrey, also holds a Master’s of Science (M.S., 2013) in mental health counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

During her fourteen years of experience in mental health, she has had the pleasure of working in all realms of psychotherapy. Ms. Humphrey is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Nevada, as well as a NBCC approved National Certified Counselor.

Ms. Humphrey began her clinical experience working as the Vice President of the Psy Chi’s national honors society in Nashville, Tennessee. Followed by work for the Department of Corrections Acute Psychiatric Unit and the Mobile Crisis Unit in Madison, Wisconsin, concluded by service of Veterans Affairs in Arizona.

Since then, she has completed training in specific skills related to adult survivors of mass shootings, PTSD for first responders, active military, veterans, and correctional workers. Her specialized training provisions also include depression, anxiety, eating disorders, infertility/fertility concerns, and treatment of judicial workers, civil servants, and local academics. Ms. Humphrey’s theoretical orientation is integrated and primarily based on psychoanalytic theory, trauma informed focused care, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, strategic therapy, transgenerational family therapy, and existential therapy.
